ABOUT
Rabosi Design (est. 2007)
The Story So Far
Rabosi Design is owned and operated by Eva Hosie. Eva designs, creates, and manufactures stylish, fun women’s fashion from her home studio in Dunback, Otago, New Zealand. She is inspired by the ever changing seasons, colours and the vibrant landscapes of the South Island and creating garments that suit woman from all walks of life that make them feel great. Eva designs timeless garments using high-quality natural fibres, mainly linen and cotton from Japan and Europe. Each piece is made to last, suitable for all occasions, seasons, and designed to become a wardrobe favourite.
Craftsmanship & Sustainability
Since my teens, I’ve been passionate about textile design. I began by hand-painting silk scarves and creating garments that were sold at markets across Australia. In 2007, I launched Rabosi Design in Australia and then relocated to New Zealand with my husband and two children in 2019. I handcraft each piece from start to finish myself using sustainable, ethical practices, from designing, through to cutting, and sewing. My focus is on sourcing my materials from ethical suppliers and generating minimal waste and recycling. My labels are made from recycled satin, business cards and tags are made from recycled card and we’re introducing a new waistband made from organic cotton and recycled elastane. I also incorporate unique embroidery using offcuts and natural fibres like organically dyed silk and reclaimed sari fabric.
Looking Ahead
I am now living on acreage, and I plan to grow plants for a dye garden for natural fabric colouring and I am exploring composting methods to reduce waste further, continuing my commitment to eco-friendly, handcrafted slow fashion.
